Current on MPS6 what happens if I apply for a new job?

Hi, I am currently on MPS6. If I apply for a new job will I stay on that scale or will I automatically go to UPS? I am currently in a SEN school and looking to apply for a post in a Pupil Referral Unit? Also the advertised job says SEN allowance up to £4075 what determines what SEN rate you get? Thanks

There's no pay portability any more: the new school could offer you MPS6, UPS1, or MPS1 if they so choose. You need to ask about salary at interview, and don't accept the job without knowing what they are offering.

Thanks, my current school have automatically put me on to UPS 1 from September. On the application form where it asks for current salary could I put UPS1 from September?
