His weirdo pal has gone quickly. Heard a radio discussion about how Cummings tactics may be good for a campaign like Leave, but hopeless for government.

If he’s advantageous personally to Boris in any way he’ll stay. If he’s not he’ll go. It’s all about keeping an insulating, tight knit team around him to hide behind now.

Trump got rid of Steve Bannon fairly early on. I suspect it may be a similar situation.

Bannon was never given the power that Cummings has. Johnson is going to have to go some to get rid of him, because he's got some very firm power foundations set in place now. Wouldn't surprise me if Johnson finds himself to be a puppet PM, much to his shock

Cummings is a Revolutionary. For Cummings Brexit was just the start of root and branch surgery of the British establishment. Brexit is pointless without breaking the way the elite operates. He has no time for tradition and the traditions of the old gits of the Conservative Party. Whether he stays is down to Johnson. Does he drive the bulldozer through the British vested interests with Cummings for radical change but risk isolation. Or does he ditch Cummings and put the Party first and spending on vanity projects to keep growth positive and tinkering enough with the Vested Interests and North to keep him mildly popular.

Cummings will be ditched when he ceases to serve a purpose, just as with everyone in politics.

Everyone is being kept in the dark about what the masterplan, if it actually exists, is. So far, Cummings is claimed to have masterminded Brexit and won the Tories another term in government, but the establishment saw him off easily enough when he attempted to abuse the sovereignty of parliament.

The establishment will do it over and over again. The British system of power is far too engrained and far too deep to tolerate a pipsqueak like Cummings upsetting things for them.

I think you are right, emerald. they will spend too long thinking they've got him under control and can move any time they like. when they try, it'll be too late.

This story won't help Mr Cummings (what a shame!!):

Sabisky row: Dominic Cummings criticised over 'designer babies' post
PM’s aide dragged further into row over decision to hire adviser with eugenicist views

In a blogpost covering his views on the future of “designer babies”, Cummings said he believed rich would-be parents would inevitably select embryos with “the highest prediction for IQ” and floated the idea that “a national health system should fund everybody to do this” to avoid an unfair advantage for the wealthy.

Experts criticised Cummings’s theories about genetics, saying they were unworkable, unethical and amounted to eugenics, two days after Andrew Sabisky resigned as a No 10 contractor over his past claims that black Americans on average had lower IQs than white people.

That news about Cummings has been around for ages, and largely ignored. Media wouldn't pick it up. He's a thoroughly nasty piece of work, in contempt of Parliament, and pretty much in charge of the country.

Both Campbell and Cummings seem to have a deep dislike for incompetents. But its more about who they perceive to be incompetent. Cummings sees the entire public sector and the civil service as incompetent and much of his Conservative Party paymasters.
