Anyone recommend a free program to create PDFs? Preferably one that converts Word docs?
You can download a free extension from Microsoft that will allow you to sae your Word docs as pdf.
Or you can use Open Office, also free.

Doesn't word offer the facility in the normal 'save as' menu? When I had to write a lot of papers and email them to a number of people who all used different programmes I had to use pdf all the time - I just wrote word documents and saved them as pdf version.

I thought so, but I can't find it and microsoft tells me to buy Acrobat to save Word docs as pdfs.
