Thanks folks. I suspected it might have to be online courses, which is a shame as I do value being able to meet with other teachers as share experiences.
I've had a quick look at the British Council and what they offer - Has anyone any experience with them? I wonder how relevant any of their training might be to an international school teacher rather than an ESL teacher.

  2. Hi Goosey,

There seem to be a number of training providers in
Singapore it all depends on what subject you teach. I think ESL training
can be really good especially if you teach in an international school
with a ESL learners. Most staff at my school come without ESL experience
and have enjoyed the ESL training provided (online). I think it is a
good thing to add to one's CV regardless of the subject taught.

    Meeting
other teacher is good although you may find that Singaporean teachers
have a different take on education. That said it is always interesting
to see new ways of teaching and I find Western teachers often come to
Asia with a stereotypical view of education and teachers.

Here are a few links I found online, I have no idea what they are worth though.
