CPD for whole school, tutors, PSHE, Citizenship & RE

Discussion in 'Senior Leadership Team' started by MilliScott, Jun 1, 2011.

  1. Hello SMT!
The Association for Citizenship Teaching have got together with Three Faiths Forum, Amnesty International and the PSHE Association to create a cross-curriular CPD day for teachers using the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 bombings as a lens to explore teaching about controversial and sensitive subjects.
This CPD helps your school meet requirements for community cohesion, Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural education as well as the whole school ethos! It is useful for tutor groups and assemblies as well as for Citizenship, RE and PSHE classes.
At the end of the day teachers will feel equipped to facilitate constructive dialogue and critical engagement with the issues raised by the 10th anniversary of the 11th September bombings. They will have looked at how the media responds to the issues raised and how your pupils get information about current affairs. They will also have considered how to respond to pupils asking personal questions and challenging their own beliefs.
The CPD will be transferable for addressing other controversial issues and there will be useful free resources picked by us to help schools deal effectively with the controversial and sensitive subjects bound to arise in schools. These include justice, faith, terrorism, media, democracy, identity, SMSC etc.
The whole CPD day costs only £35. We are working for free and the fee just covers venue and catering costs.
Info and booking for Manchester, 6th July 2011
Info and booking for London, 7th July 2011
