    Good afternoon all,

I am an NQT on a maternity cover, about to apply for a permanent job.

I'm just seeking advice on writing a cover letter, I feel my PGCE cover letter was a little bit of over kill and slightly woolly.

What length would you suggest? A whole page, just a few paragraphs? (I have included a supporting statement in my application).

    Thank you

    .

If you go over to Jobseekers forum and open the thread about the Professional Advice Hub, there is a great deal of advice there about applying for a job.

Basically, if you have a supporting statement, your cover letter should be one paragraph:

    Dear Mr X

    Post of teacher of Geography

I wish to apply for the above post and attach my completed application form and Equality Monitoring form as requested.

    Yours sincerely

    A Teacher
