Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, year 1

  2. In relation to your topic building a street and numbering the houses in 2s would be a good start! You could either get the children building them from box craft, drawing a street on the computer or by hand and then they could label the houses in 2s - not necessarily starting from 2 to make it a bit trickier!
  3. Expanding on the house theme- if 5 people live in each house, how many people altogether in 3 houses etc. Putting 10 people in each house might be stretching it a little bit, unless they were very large houses! Perhaps 10 people in a block of flats?
  4. I've done the block of flats thing before too - it's quite nice to do it with those bricks that have a hole in them. Stack them up and get them to put people inside them (5 10 etc) and then count them up in 5s/10s rather than counting them all one by one. Very practical!
