=counta on a filtered list

    Anyone know if this is possible? The count seems to count the whole column regardless of the filter?!

  3. You need to use the SUBTOTAL function. If your list is in A2:A20 use:
    =SUBTOTAL(3,A2:A20)
    3 is the function number representing COUNTA. If you look under SUBTOTAL worksheet function in Excel's help you can find the other function numbers.
