Could the UK exist without its USA 'ally'?

    I sincerely hope that's sarcasm.

A lazy generalisation only you have made on this thread.

Whats more the Americans have saved us from alien invasions on many occasions.

I've seen that in Hollywood films too.

Where is your evidence for this assertion?

The low grade work is often done by people who are educated, ambitious and were motivated to leave poorer areas to make something of themselves. Many have a good grasp of English and come here to improve it. EU workers from post 2004 states often see a spell working in the UK as a stepping stone to better oportunities. Our flexible employment practices are a big draw that suits many of the younger ones.

We have coped with many national crises over the centuries. We have the spirit to fight off any space aliens. The British community will come together just like they did in 'Attack the Block'

A shame that we British wanted all the Poles and Czechs that served here repatriated after May 1945. Many did go back and many were tortured, imprisoned or executed by the victorious communists. Some czechs who served in the British forces were shunned when they returned as we had not been.forgiven for abandoning them to the Nazis.

The Nazis were developing nuclear weapons, long range missiles and long range bombers (which they called the Amerikabomber ). The war wasn't America's fault but if the Nazis were undefeated it would have become America's problem. Fortunately the US realised this and helped us win the the war to save them the bother of having to do it by themselves.

Japan wasn't our problem but we helped America out again here too.

LC is asserting that this is not generally the case. I was asking for her evidence.

Now, after all of this rather rude and ill considered ‘yank bashing’ let us consider what Germany and France have done for us.
Germany, two world wars, so many lives lost and bankrupted us twice.
France, both world wars we carried them, more so for the second.
Then the USA., food, materials, fuel, munitions, ships, planes, their servicemen’s lives.
I know where my loyalties and thanks are directed.
