Correct staff:child ratio for mixed 2 and 3 year old nursery class?

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by linscom, May 3, 2011.

  1. Hello, I am trying to find out what the correct child:staff ratio is for a mixed 2 and 3 year old set. We have a nursery class with just 2 years olds in, in the morning, with a ratio of 1 staff member to 4 children. The 3 year old class in the morning has 1:8. But in the afternoon, a few of the younger children stay on, and are mixed in to the older set, (some of whom leave also). Does the 1:4 ratio still apply, or not? I can't find out where to look to find what is required by ofsted. Can anyone point me int he right direction? I hope this is posted in the right place. Thanks.
