converting to teach at a primary school

Discussion in 'Primary' started by lchapman88, Mar 13, 2012.

  1. Hi,
I don't know if anyone can help me??
I am an NQT, and after working at an age 3-16 special needs school for a number of months on supply, I now know that I would definitely like to look in to teaching at either a special needs or primary school.
I have a secondary music PGCE and was wondering what dditional training or a conversion course that I would need to complete and how I go about it?
    Many thanks!!! [IMG]

Hi, i'm secondary pe trained and taught for over 10years but have been successfully teaching in primary KS1 and EYFS for the last few years. experience and volunteering to get a foot in the door worked for me. haven't done any additional training except for staff development in school.
    Good luck

  4. The key word here is MUSIC. Many Primary schools would jump at the chance of a Music
Specialist. If you can play the Piano, even better and if you could teach a instrument, better still.
Good luck, our last post was for someone who had "an interest in music" and the "ability to play the piano an advantage". We had one applicant and they got the job.

As a primary head I'm looking for someone who knows the primary curriculum inside out. To be considered you'd need to show that you have considerable experience of working in primary either as supply or in a voluntary capacity. With over 100 applications for every job, the competition is stiff and you need to have something that will make you stand out.
