Converting to primary after being a secondary teacher

Discussion in 'Primary' started by miss.teach, Mar 4, 2011.

  1. Hi all

I am considering a move from the secondary teaching sector, into the primary sector. I have seen a post advertised and have emailed the Head to ask if an application would be considered from a secondary specialist. I have been told to go for it.

I am posting on here as I would like some advice, particularly from those processionals out there that have made this transition from secondary to primary.

Part of me is very excited about the change and another part of me is, not so much scared but apprehensive about making a change.

I have taught in primary, as part of my secondary time table. I have loved every second of it. At first I have to admit I was terrified as I had not taught a single primary school child, but have seriously come to love teaching the age range.

With regards to the role of primary teaching, how does it differ to secondary teaching? Can anyone give any tips? Advice?

Thank you so much in advance.
