Converting from Primary to Secondary

Discussion in 'Music' started by LeeSheb, Apr 12, 2011.

  1. Hello all

I am currently a primary teacher in Scotland and was considering a change to music teaching in secondary school, however I'm unsure how I would go about it. I have a degree in Commercial Music and have been teaching guitar for longer than I have been primary teaching and also play piano.

I've heard some people say you can do a conversion course which lasts 6-8 weeks
I've also read somewhere that it doesn't matter if it's primary or secondary, your teaching qualification stands and it's how you perform in the interview which will decide whether you are suitable for the job.

Could someone please shed some light on this? I'm not entirely sure.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
