Constant tale telling

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by rainbowstripes, Feb 6, 2012.

  1. My children (year R) have recently started telling tales on eachother. It is especially centring around a few boys ( who will sometimes  hurt eachother etc) but it's constant tale telling... I don't know what to do to stop it. Worst culprit is a boy who tells me about everything , even the tiniest little thing e.g. Stuck her tongue out etc. his mum mentioned in passing she has told him to report anything rather than retaliating so that is what he is doing.

Any tips on how to stop this behaviour?
  2. Lol! Don't you just love Reception.
I've never NOT had this problem in a Reception class.
My usual response is to smile sweetly and say something along the lines of "never mind" or "I'll kep an eye on him/her" or "can you use your words to sort this out?"
Usually sends them on their way when they realise that telling tales isn't going to get them any more of your time.
If it happens during carpet time then I am super strict and tell them off for contributing something that wasn't part of our lesson. Lol, woe betide anyone who tells a tale and calls out doing it!!!! Ha ha!
