Confusion: End of KS formal science assessment??

Discussion in 'Primary' started by champ_lemon, Mar 16, 2011.

  1. Hello,
I'm hoping somebody can quickly point me in the right direction regarding science assessment.
I understand that the government has removed the external end of KS2 tests and replaced them with random sample schools that will be tested.
What I'm foolishly struggling to understand is what happens in KS1 and the schools in KS2 that don't get called to sit the sample test. How do they assess/track their children's levels in science? Do you have to externally submit a level for every child at the end of KS1?
Sorry google isn't really helping me find the answer!
    Thank you so much!
