Confusion between 'e' and 'i' sound

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by afza, Jan 16, 2012.

  1. Hello Everyone,
My KII students are still struggling and getting confused between the sounds of 'e' and 'i' especially when writing simple CVC, CCVC or CVCC. Please give ideas as to how to make them realise the difference between the two sounds.
    Thank you in advance.

  3. Train them with words like 'sit - set', 'pen - pin', 'ten - tin' ?
Could use real objects and pictures for some.
Look at the Learning to Read page
    at www.EnglishSpellingProblems.co.uk
for words with e and i which u can pair.

  4. I think it is often because the letter name for 'e' sounds more like /i/ than /e/. Have you talked about this issue with the children?
