    Dear Theo,
I have been offered a permanent job in a school I was interviewed in in November 2010. I was second choice, and as a new vacancy arose, they offered it to me recently. I was sent to this school at the beginning of this year through an agency to cover a long term sickness till the end of the year. Now do the school have to pay this agency a finders fee or not as I applied through the LEA privately, not through the agency, but have been working there through the agency till July? I don't want to lose this job as jobs are really hard to get these days and I feel the school will not be willing to pay a finders fee saying they had found me before the agency. Please advise, I am very confused.

What happens in this case will be a matter for the school and the agency to negotiate, and will depend on the contract that they have agreed on.
Personally, since you are currently working there through an agency, I think that it is likely that they will have to pay a fee; after all, anyone can claim that they saw an external advert in order to avoid paying (not saying that you are falsely claiming, just saying that this would be a good way to avoid payment!). So it is likely that this specific point is covered in their contract.
But the school is not daft and they will have known this.
It's not your worry. If you have a written job offer, then reply in writing accepting it, and say nothing about the agency.
Well done for getting that job!
    You're a star, a twinkly star!
    Super, super, super!
