    1. I haven't done three steps marking this week.
    2. I get ready for the club I run while children are handwriting.
    3. I got the giggles in assembly last week.
    4. Sometimes I print things off that I need for the lesson I am teaching (I am forgetful and can't remember every single self or peer assessment slip all of the time). I send a child to get it from the printer for me as a treat.

    Hmmm, what to confess to.....
    - I hate teaching RE, the kids always ask questions I can't answer
    - I hate teaching PE, unless it's 'playground games' topic
    - I certainly use sarcasm my year 1s love it!
    - Doesn't everyone have a favourite, secretly?
    - I only ever disliked one child so much I couldn't work with them

    There must be more....

I 'taught' PE the other day with my big warm coat on and a cup of coffee in my hand. I handed the kids a basketball and basically said get on with it.

Turned out to be the best PE lesson they've had in years. They came back red faced and buzzing!

I went on a school trip last week to a local stately home, and while the person there was teaching the kids, I was playing soduku on my ipad. I occasionally pointed it in their direction so they'd think I was taking photos for the school website.

    From a Secondary teacher:

    • I hate teaching PSHE. I used to swap my sex ed lessons with another teacher because I'd always go red in the face.
    • Another teacher uses my room for PSHE once a fortnight and I was at the back of the room gathering books when a student asked "Do you swallow it when giving a BJ?" I had to leave the room to laught outside uncontrollably.
    • Year 7's that continuously repeat "My name is Jeff" and "21" make me want to scream in their faces.
    • I secretly enjoyed it when a well known bully got a good smack in the face by a usually quiet student.

The last one. Isn't that just one of the most satisfying sights you could see in this job!

    • An Ofsted inspector once smiled and waved at me through the window of a closed door as he walked past. Unfortunately, I was right in the middle of heartily slagging him off at the time. I smiled and waved back

Any summer confessions folks? I've had enough of reading about Brexit. Anyone care to make us laugh?

    • DT. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I had to bite the bullet and teach it this week. I confess to begging, bribing and even flirting on an obscene level with a lovely old lady volunteer so that she came in on an extra day and helped the kids with their sewing!

    1. Every single art/dt report was identical for my class.
    I just couldn't be bothered.

    2. I'm considering striking just to get out of going to a pupil musical extravaganza.

I've used report comments from my previous school for children at my new one in the certainty that no one will ever know!

    Ah yes, reports!

Find and replace is a wonderful invention. Out of a class of 30, approximately 25 of them say pretty much the same thing. The high flyers and the headbangers have slightly different comments!

    LOVE the terminology!

Actually reports could have a whole new confessions thread...surely?!

As for hating DT, I always give DT to the PPA teacher as I think the subject is a waste of time, and always involves too much talking, too much mess and too many near misses with the hacksaw. (I'm the DT co-ordinator.)

    Oh I so agree Lardylady!

After what seemed like endless hours talking and demonstrating, going over safety reminders, modelling accurate measuring, discussing safety issues etc etc...

The classroom got wrecked, the noise was ridiculous and at least 10 kids just ignored everything they'd been taught and spent the week randomly cutting out bits of fabric, wasting resources, ruining equipment and following the adults around the room demanding that they do it for them.

I don't blame the kids. Its just a subject I struggle with. Trying to teach classes of 30 young and needy children this complicated subject without proper specialist facilities and equipment just feels impossible at times!

There were 5 muffins in our staffroom on Friday. I made 5 separate visits to said staffroom. Each time I ate just one.

Surprisingly there are none left. I feel guilty now, but didn't at the time.

Excellent woman! Don't feel guilty, be proud that you have helped and supported your colleagues in their bid to eat less sugar and fewer calories. :)
