Condensed KS3 Science

Discussion in 'Science' started by Halogen, Feb 5, 2011.

  1. We are looking at condensing KS3 with our new Year 7 cohort in September. We have 6 hours across a two week timetable in years 7&8. Has anybody had any experience of producing effective schemes of work that utilise this format?

The new Exploring Science covers pretty much everything in Y7 and 8. Y9 is mostly GCSE

    As is Wikid science.

To be fair you could almost rush through the 'statutory stuff' in a year - but is that a good thing? It might not be much fun without any enrichment.

My thoughts, but lots of pressure to put on schools to start GCSE in year 9 to fit in triple science.

  6. Looking at the 'back to the future' agenda from Mr Grove we have dropped Wikid and gone to Exploring Science over two years, they produce a condensed overview SoL which is very useful. Its not proving too difficult to adjust and the resources are very adaptable.

does anyone have a view on science works? we are currently considering changing to this from exploring science as it seems a better match to app.
