Community Cohesion Project

Discussion in 'Primary' started by sparksy22, May 7, 2012.

  1. Has anyone been involved in the above? We work alongside another school to boost cohesion, our problem is that both schools are very similar and we are stuck as to what activities we could do. Other schools in our area have explored different faiths and cultures but coming from a similar catchment area, we feel there are not many significant differences for us to explore. Any ideas as to what we could focus on?
The children have been looking at raising self esteem and confidence as this was an issue identified by both schools.
Any ideas welcome or any previous experience of such a project.
    thanks

  3. WE have, but it was much easier as we're a small white catholic school, and we linked with a large, mostly muslim school. However, it was about friendship and self esteem etc as well as awareness of differences and, more to the point, similarities. We did simple things like watching each others school plays, went bowling together, split the 2 schools into 4 'house' teams and had an inter house (rather than inter school) sports day. A great deal of web cam chatter; inter school sum dog competitions. Perhaps a joint venture to raise money for a local charity? Sorry can't be more help!

  4. Thanks for the reply! I love all those ideas but we are running out of time until we have to present our project. My class are doing a cultural assembly but the other school are off that day so we may have to present to them another day. Thanks again x
