    Quiet in here again....

I see Michelle of the Résistance has got a new beret...

A large Picon Bière and a packet of Goose Scratchings please, Fifi...

A lovely day here in Nouvion...
Lucienne Boyer is wafting from le juke-box...
The local are polishing their boules under the watchful eye of Officer Crabtree...
...Monsieur Alphonse is washing 'is little 'earse...
and some touristes are shouting loudly in English about the quality of Fifi's English breakfast tea...
I'm swishing a couple of glaçons around my pastis (it's a good trick if you can do it) and enjoying le soleil...
    A la tienne, Etienne !

Warm in here today...probably go for a pression rather than a café today...

Nice of Didier to lend us his trophy while he's at Centerparcs....it looks good behind the bar next to the jar of pickled frog legs and Van Klomp's painting of the fallen Madonna...

I may go for a walk along the canal later....

I believe the young ladies of the Nouvion Oars will be practising their strokes at around 11:30.
    I'm looking forward to that....

    Another chaud day in Nouvion...

Fanning myself with a canard enchaîné - he doesn't like it very much....

Mme Auzière's poodle is not comfortable in this heat.... he's a canichule....

Has the café been closed for refurbishment?

Yes but I love the new décor

After a small 'oliday at the pleasure of M. Macron, I'm back.
It was a case of mistaken identity. I've never been on the Métro with a small goat and a mirror on a stick.
The décor is very nice. Shame about the clientelle.
Old Madame Le Pen is in the corner plotting something with her cronies and M. Leclerc is trying to flog some blue passports to a couple of English airmen...
The pets de nonnes smell amazing. I just hope le curé doesn't join in again...
A small pastis, please Fifi, and a bag of escargot frazzles...

Nearly time for results. Glad I’ve retired! Fifi, please can you pour me a glass of what I like to call German Sludge (coke and fresh orange juice)? Or do I have to stick to the froggie drinks? Also open up a bottle of your best wine for any customers worrying about the upcoming results. Here’s to you.

You too @BrightonEarly. Do you have 'final results' this year still to go?

@Lara mfl 05 - not strictly speaking, but I did teach one of the current Y11 classes from Y7-Y9, so I’m personally interested in their results. Probably my last connection to teaching. I so want them to do well.

I hope to crack open the Sekt, Fifi got some in for me especially. It’s chilling as we speak.

At last I have the time to enjoy a glass of something bubbly in the cafe. Join me @Lara mfl 05. Did you retire this year?

Well if you're having Sekt, I certainly will 'help you out' with emptying the bottle. ;)@BrightonEarly
Actually I retired two years ago, when f-I-l died and I had to become f-t carer for m-I-l.

That’s very sad @Lara mfl 05. Hope you are coping. Definitely join me for the Sekt!

On a happier note, my niece will be off to London to study costume design, one of my nephews to Reading to study chemistry and the other to Liverpool reading criminology. So family stress regarding results is over.

I suppose his could be a 'haven' for retired teachers? I know several regular posters are retired mfl.
