  1. Why are teachers applying for this? What purpose does it serve? Interested in knowing why teachers would pay for this status.
  2. I think this, along with the demise of the AST role there may be a clear split between a foot soldier and the SLT in terms of perceived influence on the education of kids (well an even bigger one). Funding for ASTs at my school has been cut leaving many to either scrap for TLRs that they dont want to do or they feel the only way to progress is to follow SLT round sniffing for a chance to make moves in their career. Shame.
