Our SMT have decided that each class should present an assembly each half term, preferably in the form of a play. Although I know that the children really love performing and watching them, I really think that they are a big waste of time. I resent being asked to squeeze so much into the curriculum and then having to prepare for a class play on top.

I try to keep mine as simple as possible but they still take at least 4 - 6 sessions to rehearse, get props ready, perform etc.

    Do others feel the same?

    Every half term!?
Yes, a collosal waste of time. Much better to do one a year and make it a valuable learning experience in itself.
