Choosing a teaching phase and limited options?

I'm just filling in my application for Straight to Teach,' and it says to chose a 'teaching phase'. My school put the course forward for me to mostly complete in EYFS with a placement at another school in another year group. EYFS would cover me for age phase 3-7. However, if I did my 2nd placement elsewhere and in another year group, would that cover me for age phase 5-11 too?
I don't want to massively limit job opportunities for myself and I previously really enjoyed being a year 4 TA so don't want to rule out the option to teach there in the future. Any advice would be great!

I’m not sure about this route you are doing but with the standard primary PGCE you are qualified to teach 4-11 regardless of the specialism of your course. My certificate simply says PGCE-Primary so no employer has ever known what year groups I did my practice in.

A PGCE, primary or not, qualifies you to teach. That’s it. Technically you could teach EYFS, yr 6 or yr 13. It is the experience and enthusiasm for the year group that is important. The specifics of your course don’t rule out moves in the future. If you don’t have a definite preference, I would aim for training experience in as many key stages as you can, just to broaden the options available when applying for jobs. You never know what your preferences will be. My course covered 3-11, my aim was to work in year 2, My first post was a mixed R/1/2 class and I ended up much preferring year 6!

Stay with 3-7 unless you have a wish to expand your horizons on placement. As people have said you can You can apply for any job once you are qualified and some schools intentionally move people around.
