I'm thinking of allowing children (Years 5 and 6) to bring in their own personal netbooks from next year. Does anyone do this currently? Any problems you would expect? The "problems" I see: they bring in inappropriate material on them they would be banned from bringing them in and using them in school again (currently we allow memory sticks so I don't really see the difference.) they cannot afford one - they're not being made compulsory but would be useful since we're now giving children a lot more opportunity for independant research viruses - are school computers and servers are fully protected (as much as we can!) When they are used here they would be governed by the schools filtering and monitoring. Like I said, just in the thought stage at the moment but we're finding, in a school with one suite and one set of 18 laptops, that 12 classes of 35 children want the computers more than they are available.
