Changing a job description

  1. Our TLR post holders have an additional responsibility detailed in their job description as phase leader. This works well for the TLR who leads key stage 1 ( 2 additional teachers and 4 TAs) and does the job well. However, a post holder in key stage 2 leads herself in y4 and one other teacher in y3 as well as 2 TAs, and the assistant head in Y5 leads herself in y5 and the y6 teacher. The meetings are bitty and the set-up for a variety of reasons is just not effective. A more effective solution would be to give the AHT overarching responsibility for the whole of ks2 in terms of having joint meetings and working collaboratively to look at common issues (there are many, and the dynamics of this larger group would I feel work much better than the current set-up of fairly pointless fortnightly meetings.) Can we as SLT alter the phase leadership as a necessary improvement to a fairly archaic and inefficient structure and hereby remove part of one person's job description? Any experience of this, thoughts or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
