Cayman Islands - reply time?

I applied for a post which had a closing date of Friday 10th and had an acknowledgment that I would hear back after that date. Can any give my an idea of when that is likely to be? In the UK schools normally reply within a few days of the closing date, so I don't know how long I am expected to wait to hear about the application to a Grand Cayman school.
Would it be OK for me to send an email to ask them when I will hear? The problem is that the season for jobs starting this September is fast running out, so I would like to know before sending any other applications (most have closing dates before the end of February).
