Cathy Nutbrown to lead review into early years training and qualifications

    I do hope the review takes into account the appalling rates of pay of ey practitioners; particularly charity run playgroups. What we are finding is that having encouraged/insisted that our staff are trained to at least nvq3 level we are losing them to local schools who hire them as classroom assistants or LSAs on a significantly increased
    salary and often with far less responsibility and paperwork pressures.
  3. Unfortunately it looks like pay is out of scope for the review. I think what I would like out of the review is an official remit and job description for EYP's. Even if pay is out of scope this would go some way to giving EYP's recognition they deserve.

    I know some EYPs who are on minimum wage
    I'm just not sure how small settings will manage to pay higher wages
