    Hello
This may be a stupid question (sorry) - are these marked out of 15?
    Thank you

It depends which one you're marking and for which exam/board. AQA Unit 3a is out of 30 for English Language and 15 for English only. Unit 3c is out of 20. Probably best to check on the board's website for their full mark scheme...

And, of course, they're meant to be marked by 'just the numbers,' presumably so AQA can allocate the boundaries to grades depending on how honest the nation's markers are. In the meantime, every other force in school (not least the students) demand standard grades to assess progress. Still, it's all norm-referenced, and there's nothing better, yet :-D

This is the website to download the specs with the grades - they are at the back of each spec http://www.aqa.org.uk/resource-zone/english/overview.php
