Can anyone answer whether Nursery and reception children can sit on the carpet? Last term this was not an issue as the bubbles were only 10 children and we used chairs. We have removed soft furnishings and fabric toys. Thanks

Of course. Where else will they sit?
Most nursery and reception classes don't have one chair per child and they spend half their time playing on the floor.
For reception you can probably encourage a bit of distance between them, but it isn't required.
As classes are allowed to share resources it would be a bit daft not to let them sit on the carpet.
