I'm trying to find a poem, I think it's called 'As' and is a long list of similes.

I want to use it next week but can't find it online and left my 'Works' book at school and I think it may be in there!

    As Tasty as a Picnic

    As salty as the sea,
    As crunchy as the sand,
    My banana sandwich
    is curling in my hand.

    As soft as the sun,
    As sweet as a grin,
    My vanilla ice cream
    is dripping down my chin.

This the one you were looking for?

Not the one I was looking for but could still use it. Thanks!

The one I'm looking for is just similes in a long list.
I'll keep trying on google :)

  5. Stuffed crust, what a fab poem. Do you know who the author is?

Kerriss, it's by Celia Warren. It's in The Works, pg 171.

  8. Which Works book is it in?

The one I'm looking for is in the red works books.
Every type of poem you'll ever need for the Literacy Hour, or something like that!

Captain Oats - I have my red works book here, give me some more info and I'll have another look in it. (That's where I got the last one from!)

I think it's in the 'list poems' section and every line starts with 'As..'

My brain has gone dead and that's all I can think of!

Sorry Captain, been through all the list poems and looked in the index of first lines. The only poem that starts with 'as' is the one I gave you earlier. :0(

  14. Would this one help? It's from page 23

    Leap like a leopard.
    Hop like a kangaroo.
    Swing from branch to branch
Like a monkey in a zoo

I'll type the rest if it's the right one.

Maybe I didn't see in the Works book then, hmmm.
    I'll keep looking.

    Thanks anyway guys :)

  16. Hi, I know this post was from 2008, but I would be really grateful if you wouldn't mind typing up the entire poem. I have just ordered The Works book, but would like to get started with the literacy planning before the easter holidays (2012) thanks

  17. As as as - by Robert Hull

    As slow as a start
    as stopped as a heart
    as thin as a chip
    as chapped as a lip
    as dour as a door
    as high as the floor
    as far as away
    as near as today
    as dreamy as far
    as tall as a star
    as dark as a lock
    as stopped as a clock
    as slow as a hiss
    as near as a miss
    as slim as an 'i'
    as puzzled as 'y'
    as warm as a purr
    as boring as sir
    as boring as sir
    as boring as sir
    as scrunched as a list
    as white as a fist
    as bold as a blizzard
    as old as a wizard
    as sad as the sea
    as fit as a flea
    as sick as our cat
    as yucky as that
    as slow as an end
    as there as a friend
    as quick as a kiss
    as finished as this.

Hope this is the one - I love it.

  18. Please would you be able to write this poem out in full for me?
It is exactly what i am looking for but i can't seem to find it anywhere on the net!

    Many Thanks
