Can we 'return' from maternity leave on 1st day of the holidays?

Discussion in 'Pregnancy' started by betty73, Dec 29, 2011.

  1. Hi everyone,
I was looking for some advice..does anyone know if we are allowed to state the first day of the holidays as our return to work date after maternity leave?
I am due in April and was initially thinking of going back for the last two weeks of term but I don't know if that's possible due to childcare issues. So, I was wondering if I'm able to put my start back date as the first day of the holidays as at least then I'll be back on full pay. I work in a private school if that makes any difference?
    Thanks.

  2. As long as the private school follows the Teachers Pay and conditions
    Yes you can

  3. Thanks for the reply, i'm not sure if they do follow the teachers pay and conditions - we certainly don't get the same maternity leave, we just get the statuatory leave which sucks!
