Can I put first day of holidays as my return date?

Discussion in 'Pregnancy' started by nearly qualified, May 24, 2011.

  1. Hi
I am due to go on maternity leave in July and will be returning to work in January after the Christmas holidays - I am ok to put the first day of the Christmas holidays as my return date or do | need to work for a day before we break for Christmas?
Also - do you need to put it in writing to your HT to confirm your return date? I still have not received any written confirmation from him about my maternity leave since I gave him my letter almost 18 weeks ago!
  2. A colleague of mine did this. Her official back to work date was the first day of the Easter holidays. It did mean that she had to plan and then deliver the inset day in her first day back, but meant she got full pay for those 2 weeks.
