Can anyone solve this riddle?

    It's driving me up the wall... here it is:
    I'm like a freckled stone
    as smooth as glass,
    a box without a lock,
    cream and brown outside,
    yellow and white inside
    Take care! Don't drop me!
    Answers on a postcard please...!!!!!

    Alternative clue:
    In marble walls as white as milk,
    lined with a skin as soft as silk,
    within a fountain crystal clear,
    a golden apple doth appear.
    There are no doors to this strong hold,
    but thieves break in to steal the gold.
    What am I?
     
  5. An egg, my class struggled with this one and I have to admit I hasd to read it a couple of times!
