Can anyone recommend a good series of books on KS4 Chemistry, Biology and Phyics?

I've been lucky enough to get a place at UEA this september for a PGCE(M) in secondary science, specialising in Physics.
They've recommended I get a set of textbooks looking at KS4 for all the sciences. Can anyone recommend a good series of books, suitable for student teachers looking to learn and cement their knowledge of higher tier science?
Any help would be gratefully received!
    Thanks

  2. I am currently in the progress of waiting a firm decision on my university place! so I am regularly checking for updates. I am however, currently working as a cover supervisor.
The Students use Collins AQA GCSE by Ken Gadd
Orange and blue books (blue addition science) and I know you can get a green one for triple science. Hope this helps

  3. My Uni tutor recommended the "for you" text books. So Physics for you, Chemistry for you and Biology for you.
I got all of mine from ebay for about a couple of quid each, as some have been discontinued now. I also have some of CGP revision guides.

    Hope this helps!

  4. The old Nelson Thornes series is great. Their chemistry book is still my most used textbook. (...for you is the latest updated version for IGCSE)
I'd give the orange and blue Collins a wide berth-there's very little content in them.
CGP are good if you want brief topic summaries, and the ASE teaching .... at KS4 books are also useful.
