Q1 Wait until something comes up - but talk before you send in the application so he hears it from you, not from a reference request landing on his desk!
Q2 No, not entitled. You would have to ask nicely, and have a plan for how it could be possible without impoacting on the learning of your pupils.
Q3 Fine to have 2 from the same school. SMT, or HoD or HoY, etc.
Make sure that you read the shortlisting clickables inside the Welcome thread to get good free advice on how to go about the application. If you'd like something more, you could consider coming to one of our Weekend Workshops that give support on the whole process, which can seem a little daunting at times, I admit.
Now get all those children tucked up and sit down in front of the telly!
    Best wishes.

The TES Careers Advice service runs seminars and workshops, one-to-one careers and applications advice, one-to-one interview coaching and an application review service.
I do Application and Interview one-to-ones, and also contribute to the Job Application Workshops. We look at application letters, executive summaries and interviews.
The next Workshops I'm doing that still have vacancies are on Sunday 13th and Friday 25th February. There is also a specialist Workshop for applications to SLT on Saturday February 19th.
Go to https://www.tes.co.uk/article.aspx?storyCode=6060678 for more details of these and other seminars.
    Look forward to seeing you!

Thanks for the advice, shame about not being able to visit though. I will certainly look at one of the seminars, could do with some support!

No, I didn't say that you couldn't visit, only that you are not entitled to.
If you ask nicely, and have a clear strategy for how it might be possible for you to go without having a negative impact on the learning of your pupils, then your Head may let you go.
    But there's no actual right.
    Good luck!
