Business Studies - England

Discussion in 'Business studies' started by amorri24, Aug 1, 2011.

  1. I have recently completed my PGDE in Scotland and start my probation year as a teacher of Business Education in two weeks!

My plan is to move to London next year with my partner however I just wondered if anyone could help me to understand the set up of teaching Business Studies in England? Here we have to be able/willing to teach Business Management, Administration, Accounts and Finance, Economics and ICT all as seperate subjects.

When looking through information in England it only mentions Business Studies and Economics. I know all of these are incorporated in the Business Studies subject but do you teach the seperate subjects too or do you just specialise in one of them?

    Thanks :)

  3. It depends on the school. I have taught in a school and delivered GCSE and A Level Business with some A Level Travel and Tourism. In another school I delivered GCSE Business and ICT at Key Stage 3 and 4. In my current school I deliver A Level Business and A Level Economics and some ICT at Key Stage 4. I know of other teachers who have delivered Business Studies with other subjects, such as Maths or Geography, on their timetable.

  4. Thanks you, hopefully won't end up with Maths though!
