Basically you are paying for what the school got when they decided to employ an unqualified teacher - a lack of professionalism. Threaten to start a grievance procedure against her and make the SMT aware that you want something done now about this persons unprofessional behaviour.

You have to assert yourself and tackle the rudeness. Arrange a meeting and discuss with her the concept of constructive polite criticism. Make it clear that you will only engage with ideas/suggestions which are the result of reasoned/reasonable debate.

    Many thanks for that.
The deputy head isn't happy with her either.

He has suggested I talk to her in a meeting (as we are in the same dept) and type the minutes and agenda exactly as what was discussed.

I also decided to make a point of being "extra strict" when T.As are around as she talks to them in the staff room to shut her up as she tries to dig up dirt from other unqualified staff.

Yes you are right, when the school employs low life that is the sort of behaviour they display which is unfortunate for other people.
