Hi all, I hope someone here can help. We are without a drama specialist this year and I have taken over responsiblity for teaching to Year 8. I'm an RS teacher but also did a degree in Drama 20 years ago. I have the SoW and plans from the drama teacher last year and am puzzled by something that is mentioned in one of the lessons in the Characterisation unit.

    The lesson plan says:

Bubble exercise - thinking about a character

    What's a bubble exercise?

    Thanks in advance

  3. Hi there, poor you!!
I don't know it at all, but the thing that springs to mind is a thought bubble?
This is a way of understanding what the character might be thinking and not necessarily what they are saying, or just merely a way of writing down the thoughts of what that character thinks of other people/ relationships.
    Hope that makes sense?
You can do this practically, with one person saying the lines, and another the thoughts, or could be a written exercise.
    Good luck!

It does sound like some kind of thought bubble exercise to establish characters inner thoughts and feelings. Don't forget to check out the resources section of this website - lots of helpful stuff on drama - I put my stuff on there.
