BTEC Performing Arts (acting)

Discussion in 'Drama and performing arts' started by simonwoking, Feb 23, 2012.

  1. Sorry this one's boring...
In the current syllabus (starting 2010), for compulsory unit B6: Acting Skills, do students HAVE to use a script, or can their acting be judged in a devised piece?
Mixed messages from the spec: the outline 'recommends' playscripts, but the grading criteria doesn't mention interpretation of scripts at all. So which is it?
    Many thanks.
(Should have gone to more training.)

  2. (EDEXCEL BTEC Performing Arts "firsts" level 2, to clarify.)
  3. Do you mean B4?
  4. If you do mean B4 Acting Skills and Techniques, we assess our students on a combination of scripted and devised work. We also double up the assignments so they cover B7 Performing Scripted Plays or B6 Devising Plays at the same time.
