Breaking into the overseas job market

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by jdp53, Jun 22, 2011.

  1. Hi,

I’m looking for information on the best
route into the overseas international schools market. I’m a qualified EFL
teacher (Cambridge DELTA) with 8+ years EFL teaching experience with the
British Council in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Italy. I made a career switch a
while back so, for the last 10 years, I’ve been employed in IT project
management (I have a B.Sc. Hon. in Computing & IT). I’d like to get back
into teaching and would be grateful for any advice on PGCEs that would maximise
my choice in the market. My first thought was to do a secondary PGCE in ICT or
primary PGCE. I also have an honours degree in urban planning but I’m guessing
this won’t be of much relevance.

    Any advice much
    appreciated.

    John

I'm afraid that I am unqualified to give advice on either PGCEs, Career paths or Overseas Teaching.
Appointments in UK are my area of expertise, and I wouldn't like to mislead you by claiming otherwise.
Posting on the Career Clinic, or Prospective Student teachers or on Teaching Overseas might help you.
    Best wishes

  3. Hi Theo,
Yes, I thought as much. Unfortunately, it looks as though the other forums aren't responding to my post either.
    Thanks anyway.
