Does anyone know the legal requirement for how many members of staff there should be on the playground at playtime?
We have 180 children and 2 members of staff (teacher and TA).

  3. Not sure but we have approx 390 children, 3 teaching staff and two TAs inside on First Aid duty. Not sure if there is a legal requirement?

"The DfE also confirmed that it does not set a minimum staff:pupil supervision ratio for breaks and lunchtimes for other Key Stages. This includes reception classes in which the majority of children will reach the age of five, six, or seven during the course of the school year.
A spokesperson advised that the number and type of staff - teachers, teaching assistants or midday supervisors - on duty at any one time should be determined according to the results of a risk assessment.
There is no specific requirement for staff on duty to be qualified teachers or support staff with certain qualifications. These factors should be considered as part of the risk assessment".
