Boots - what type of shop

  1. I'd probably back up the geography teacher, as it sounds like they're a geography specialist. If you tell them something different, surely you're just going to get them confused.
    The geography teacher probably has very good reasons for classifying it as a department store...
     
  2. Hi Trinity, I would be inclined to agree with you. Maybe it would be a good idea to speak to their geography teacher though.

    When I spoke to him he said that because they sold electrical goods then they were a department store. However to me this argument is flawed as they don't sell a wide range of electricals, only health and beauty type electricals in most stores. You wouldn't go in and buy a TV for example. A fundamental of dept stores for me is that they sell a *wide* range of different things, e.g. clothes, (soft) furnishings, housewares, electricals etc...
    I didn't undermine his teaching though once one of them had pointed out that was what he had told them, but they did leave knowing that I disagreed with him and my reasons why.
