Bolton PGDE interviews

Discussion in 'Further Education' started by melcpotts, Apr 29, 2012.

  1. Hi Gill,
I am just finishing the PGDE course at Bolton this year 2011-2012 - but I am studying at one of their partner colleges - Salford City College, Walkden Campus. My specialism is Performing Arts.
You sound like you are on the right track and have covered a lot. Dont forget that its only a short presentation so theres no need to go into too much depth - it is more of a test of your ability to present information to a group of people and what your personality is like.
I was asked why I want to teach, why my specific subject and what I knew about current educational policies/news - i.e are you reading up about education as it is always changing.
You have to do an initial assessment - a Numeracy and Literacy test. They're not too difficult, but I was a little out of practice all the same! The PGDE is different because it doesnt automatically lead to qualified teacher status. I think we do that part through the GTC - although, this is exactly what I am going to discuss with my lecturers tomorrow!
    Hope this helps! Mel.
  2. Hi Mel,

Thanks for this. I'm pleased to say that I have been offered a place. Yes from
What I understand the rules have just changed and once you gain QTLS and are a member of whichever body you have to be a member of (can't remember the name) then officially you should also be able to work in a school. However, in practice I'm not sure if this will actually be the case. How have you found the course? Which subject are you looking to teach?
