Biology A-Level EMPA/ISA - Any resources out there?

Discussion in 'Science' started by kritur, Nov 22, 2011.

  1. I'm not biology but I have found paying very careful attention to the PSAs released for the year can pay dividends for the ISA. Very often there are subtle clues in them so it is worth cross referencing them against the ISAs so you can see where to put the emphasis. Eg, one year and ISA answer was recrystallisation which isn't specifically on the syllabus and often isn't included as a skill, it did however appear as part of one of the PSAs so if we hadn't followed the PSA through to the end then the kids wouldn't have got that mark.

We use AQA and two weeks ago I went on an excellent CPD course run by them on ISAs and EMPAs. It was excellent and I've got some fantastic materials to use. Cost around £200 (pretty standard for CPD) but well worth it.
I don't know what exam board you use but I'm sure all run similar courses.
