Billionaire says America has to 'make teachers a special class in our society'

    These kind of 'deals' are either misguided or intended to mislead. They never benefit the people they're (supposedly) intended to benefit.

    Some years back, in a certain european country, during a general election campaign, one candidate propsed reducing tax for women to counter the fact that they get paid less than men. What would have been the effect? Almost certainly, employers would have offered even less to women, knowing that they'd end up taking home the same. Nice sounding policy ends up being a subsidy for business.
    He didn't win anyway, but same would happen with any 'tax break' for the lower paid. They end up no better off because their salaries are reduced to match the new circumstances.
