Biggest Challenge facing science departments?

I'm just wondering what people's (particularly heads of subject or faculty) opinions are on what the biggest challenge facing science departments currently is. For me, I think the challenge of recruitment. We just can't get quality applicants, especially for Chemistry and Physics, despite offering well above the going rate in terms of salary.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks, Amy

Recruitment is definitely a worry as is GCSE for all with the new progress 8 measures and much harder combined science GCSE.
