This being the season of great girth I would like to share with my pals & chums the secret to a svelte Yuletide figure: Dry wheat biscuits.

I like a coffee with my plate of half-coated chocolate biscuits but find that replacing this meal by coffee with a dry wheat biscuit not only fills me, sating my appetite, but anticipates the need for running tedious miles in Winter weather.

That sounds like an idiosyncratic effect.

My figure, while not svelte, is svelte enough.

Nah, miles aren’t tedious. Miles can be entertaining, exciting, scary, interesting, depending on what you’re doing with them. Running is what is tedious if you aren’t a fan of running.

There are plenty of other ways of achieving and maintaining a svelte figure that are far more enjoyable than eating dry wheat biscuits. They also have the benefit of improving core strength, toning and shaping. A dry biscuit won’t do that.

Too gassy and it will rap round your intestines. I ate a deli sausage once without peeling off the fine plastic film; not recommended.

I agree Foxtail. I'm not a fan of running-I'd make up my miles by dancing.I'd much rather dance myself fit than eat dry biscuits.

I have nothing against running a half-mile here or there once a week but anything more than a mile is simply a waste of time & calories and ultimately erodes joints.

My recommendation of dry wheat biscuits in place of sugary confections is intended as a tactical way of countering seasonal waist-gain. Personally, I regularly perform a lot of compound exercises with free weights, consume supplements and control my diet in other ways.

I had to run very quickly for about 5 minutes on Wednesday to catch a train.
I haven't run so fast and so far for years.
    It was a mistake.
I thought I was going to die!
