Apart from the ASE, are there any ‘paid membership’ organisations that would be of great benefit for secondary science teachers own subject development? And which ‘free membership’ subscriptions do you find the most valuable?

Years ago I was a member of the Institute of Biology, not free, but some good meetings. It also addeded MIBIOL CBIOL to my name.

Thanks for your reply. I think the chartered college of teaching gives letters after your name. It seems to be all the rage. I need to find some useful ones that the school will fund but there has to be some sort of impact that we can demonstrate from our membership.

Institute of Biology is now the Royal Society of Biology.
ASE awards Chartered Science Teacher if you want post-nominals.
At HoD level, you could consider a City & Guilds Professional Recognition Award - more postnominals!
