I found this version, said to be the original by some, of 'Hey Joe', and covered by Hendrix.

(There are a few tracks on this thread that I hadn't realised were covers, and this is another case for me)

    Love them both

I remember Tom Jones did a whole album of covers, dueting with different artists
Stereophonics - Mama told me not to come

Robbie Williams - Are you going my way

    Mousse T - Sex Bomb

Natalie Imbruglia - Never tear us apart

Loads of others as well, such a cool concept at the time

I do like the Elkie Brooks version. While I was looking for that, I came across another one with some really good guitar playing by Jeff Beck. I hadn’t heard that before.

Love it - not least because I imagine Liam Gallagher being completely ****** off with it, but also for the added 45rpm crackle.

Pitbull & Ke$ha's Timber gone DooWop:

Niki Minaj's Anaconda gone Bluegrass - talk about Hick Hop :)

PostModern Jukebox - turning sh*te to gold since 2008.

That brings back memories. My husband bought that Labi Siffre album many years ago. There’s something about Madness that always makes me feel good. I love that version. I’d never heard it before.

Thanks for that. I didn’t know Johnny Cash had recorded that. I’ve loved his music since I first saw him many years ago in Dundee. June Carter and I think his daughter were also performing - they couldn’t have been long married but I didn’t know that at the time.

@NoseyMatronType I haven’t heard ’Mule Skinner Blues’ for a very long time and never that version - thanks for that. When I was in my teens I used to hang out with some people from school who were in a jazz band. Every time they took a breather, this would go on the record player. I loved it.

(The clarinet player later became a member of a famous band - not jazz and not playing the clarinet, though.)

Curiously this is probably one of the most covered songs in our history so here it is sung by the composer, Kris Kristofferson and his wife at the time Rita Coolidge. You can feel the love here, beware if a tad sensitive :p

Not sure about best cover songs but I do find some of the covers primary schools do quite creative.

Not sure if LipDubs qualify, but what the Hell, this classic is always worth a look. One continuous unedited take orchestrated by a whole city - Grand Rapids, Michigan.
